The Sign of the Cross

Note: with right hand, touch the forehead, centre chest, left shoulder, then right shoulder, join hands in prayer.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Glory be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Traditional Blessing

May The Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

This is a traditional blessing from the Hebrew Scriptures – Numbers 6.24-26.
It was commonly prayed among Jewish families, and in all likelihood, it is a blessing that Joseph and Mary would have prayed over their beloved son, Jesus.

Thanksgiving Prayer

O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer.
By word and deed,
may we always help those who cry out for what we take for granted.

Heavenly Father,
We give You thanks for all You’ve done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see.
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy and care:
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a desire to follow You today and always.

Amen

Memorare

Bishop Anthony has asked that we pray this special prayer to Mary at this time.

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary full of grace,
The Lord is with you,
Blessed are you among women,
And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Peace Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

Psalm 8 – How great is your name, O Lord

How great is your name, O Lord our God,
through all the earth!

Your majesty is praised above the heavens;
on the lips of children and of babes
you have found praise to foil your enemy,
to silence the foe and the rebel.

When I see the heavens, the work of your hands,
the moon and the stars which you arranged,
what is man that you should keep him in mind,
mortal man that you care for him?

Yet you have made him little less than a god;
with glory and honour you crowned him,
gave him power over the works of your hands,
put all things under his feet.

All of them, sheep and cattle,
yes, even the savage beasts,
birds of the air, and fish
that make their way through the waters.

How great is your name, O Lord our God
through all the earth!

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now,
And ever shall be world without end.

Amen.

Morning Prayer 1

Lord God, at the start of this day, I offer to You
Every thought, word and action,
all my work and all my leisure,
I offer to you today.

Amen.

Morning Prayer 2

God our Father, we thank you for the night
and for this new day.
We thank you for rest and food and love
and all that makes our life so blessed.
We seek to follow Jesus this day
in all we think, in all we do, in all we say,

Amen.

Morning Prayer 3

In the name of our Lord Jesus, I begin this day. I thank you, Lord, for another day.
Help me do my best to make all I do today pleasing to You.
Mother Mary, watch over me this day. My Guardian Angel, take care of me.
St. Joseph, St Mary of the Cross and all the saints of God, pray for me.

Amen.

Morning Prayer 4

As this day begins, I think of you, O Lord, and I desire to serve You.
I offer this day to You, and offer You all that will come my way.
Today, may I treat others as I would like to be treated.
Take all my heart and mind and strength, O Lord, that this day may be lived for Your greater honour and glory .

Amen.
