SUSPENSION OF PUBLIC MASSES IN THE DIOCESE OF BROKEN BAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
After due consideration of the COVID-19 situation and requirements announced by the Federal Government, Bishop Anthony has made the decision to suspend all public Masses in the Diocese of Broken Bay until further notice, effective Friday 20 March 2020. Note that Mass is available online.
Some sacraments and prayer gatherings are not part of this suspension and I encourage you to read Bishop Anthony’s full letter below.
I want to assure parishioners that the priests, parish team and various parish groups are here to serve you. I also want to assure you that the Church will be open for prayer at the following times:
Monday to Friday: 6am – 5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 6am – 7pm
As a Parish Family, we are particularly conscious that this is a very challenging time for many people, especially the vulnerable in our community. Please contact the parish office if you wish to inform us or want our support. We are particularly conscious of those who are experiencing a downturn in mental health, self-isolating, experiencing flu-like symptoms, have a confirmed case of Coronavirus and those hospitalised for any reason.
Both within our own parish community and wider society, we want all to be cared for and none to be abandoned. We are all encouraged to remain at peace and not to panic, to maintain good personal hygiene, to care for our health and that of our family, and to follow all Government guidelines.
We will continue to provide a bulletin each weekend along with other updates and resources. Please continue to check back to our the parish website. (Home Page).
If you wish to discuss this or have any concerns, you are welcome to phone the parish office. I will keep you updated of any major changes via the website and you are welcome to join the St Agatha’s Parish Community Email List by clicking here.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Paul Durkin,
Parish Priest
