Holy Week Mass Release Times.
As per Fr Paul’s video message linked here, we expect to release the videos of Palm Sunday and the Easter Triduum Masses as below. We will send you an email on each occasion a little while beforehand.
In particular, Fr Paul would like to inform you of the following:
Given the public health crisis, the closure of churches and the restrictions on public gatherings, we are celebrating Holy Week in an exceptional way this year in our own parish and throughout the world. We have received guidelines and directives from the Vatican Congregation for Divine Worship and from Bishop Anthony Randazzo.
Palm Sunday, April 5, 6:00 pm:
The Bishop has recommended the third form for this celebration which means there will not be the traditional reading of the short Gospel and procession at the door of the church. The Mass will simply begin with a special Antiphon for Palm Sunday and blessing of a small number of palms.
Holy Thursday, April 9, 6:00 pm:
The Mass of the Lord’s Supper will not include the washing of the feet and processing the Blessed Sacrament to an Altar of Repose.
Good Friday, April 10, 3:00 pm:
There will be a pause in the ceremony for a short time of prayer and reflection in the time that would usually be taken for the veneration of the Cross.
Easter Vigil, April 11, 6:00 pm:
There are obviously to be no catechumens baptised or candidates to be confirmed and receive Holy Communion. There will not be an outside fire. The Vigil Mass will begin inside the church with the lighting of the Paschal candle.
There are restrictions on recorded music and our choirs gathering to record music, so Fr Stephen, Fr Paul and Fr Harry will chant parts of the Mass and some hymns.
I invite all parishioners to join in the celebration of the ceremonies in a spirit of prayer, reflection and solidarity with one another.
As you will appreciate we’re reliant upon many technical factors and these times are subject to change. Should this occur we will advise asap by email.
