The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
“The Magnificat praises the loyal and merciful God, who carries out his design of salvation with the little ones and the poor, with those who have faith in Him, who trust his Word, like Mary.”
“On the feast of the Assumption, when Mary completes her journey on this earth, she precedes us in the pilgrimage of life and faith.
We ask her to keep us and support us, so that we may have a strong, joyous and merciful faith.
May she help us to be holy, so that we might meet with her, one day, in Heaven.”
Pope Francis, 15 August 2017
“Mary’s assumption into heaven was a special sign of God’s favour, but it also indicates God’s desire to save all people, body and soul.
While Mary was given a special grace, the feast day should remind Catholics that the Church professes faith in
“the resurrection of the body” for all who are saved by Christ.”
Pope Francis, 15 August 2018
